Gertrude Sparks

Gertrude Sparks, 91, of Orange, Texas, passed away on March 12, 2020.

Funeral services will be 2 pm, Monday, March 16, 2020, at Claybar Funeral Home in Orange, Texas. Officiating will be Reverend Rob Tibbits of Crossroads Baptist Church in Vinton, Louisiana. Burial will follow at Mimosa Pines Cemetery in Sulphur, Louisiana.

Visitation will be prior to the service from 10 am, Monday, March 16, 2020, at Claybar Funeral Home in Orange.

Born in Natchitoches, Lousiana, she was the daughter of Ve Longlois and Ida (Booty) Longlois. Gertrude was a loving wife and a devoted mother. She loved her family so much. Her world revolved around her children and grandchildren. They could do no wrong in her eyes. Gertrude enjoyed talking to her friends and family members on the phone whenever she could. Mrs. Sparks loved having her family gather at her house; the sounds of her family and friends laughter filling her house brought her great joy. Gertrude loved square-dancing with Mr. Sparks, they were members of the Merry Mixers of Orange. Gertrude was a wonderful woman who was always there for her friends and family. Gertrude will be greatly missed. Mrs. Sparks blessed her family with so many wonderful memories that she helped to create. She may be gone but she most certainly won’t be forgotten.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband Howard “Sparky” Sparks; daughter, Beverly Tully; great-grandson, Garret Vice; and her 2 brothers and 3 sisters.

She is survived by her children, Mike Sparks and wife Lisa of Nederland, Texas and Dennis Sparks and wife Sonya of Orange; grandchildren, Chris Vice and wife Buffy, Megan Jackson, Kevin Sparks and wife Jessica, and Chad Sparks and wife Michelle; great grandchildren, Kristin Vice and Hensley Morgan.

Serving as pallbearers will be Mike Sparks, Dennis Sparks, Chad Sparks, Kevin Sparks, and Chris Vice.

John “Bubba” Wesley King, Jr

John “Bubba” Wesley King, Jr., 64, of Bronson, Texas, formerly of Kentucky, passed away on March 12, 2020, at his home in Bronson.

Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m., Monday, March 16, 2020, at Claybar Funeral Home in Bridge City, Texas. Officiating will be Clifford Grounds of Parkway Baptist Church and Bob Logsdon.

Visitation will be held prior to the service, beginning at 12:00 p.m. at Claybar Funeral Home in Bridge City.

Born in Port Arthur, Texas, on May 31, 1955, he was the son of John Wesley King, Sr. and Reba Ann (Dill) King. Bubba worked as an operator at the steel mill for over 40 years. He was a very giving man who never met a stranger. Bubba always liked to have a good time! He was a big fan of Harley-Davidson motorcycles and he enjoyed fixing up houses. Bubba loved his cats as if they were his own children and spoiled them to no end. His grandchildren were the light of his life and he was a wonderful “Paw Paw.” Bubba, and his great hugs, will be missed by all who knew and loved him.

He was preceded in death by his mother-in-law, Merle Myers; and father-in-law, James D. Myers.

He is survived by his loving wife of almost 40 years, Vicki King; his parents, John and Reba King of Bronson; his children, Trampus King and wife Laura of Mauriceville, Daniel King and Cassie Cullum of Bridge City, and Chris King and wife Christy of Bridge City; his grandchildren, Stephen Rambin, Brad Ozan, Lauren Ozan, Dade King, Noah King, Cameron King, Andin Gafoor, Alana Densley, Jace Nunnelly, Tallie Cooper, Blaze King, and Gage King; his siblings, Peggy Wright and husband Terry of Lockhart, and Danny “Goat” King and wife Vicki of Bronson; as well as his buddies at the lake, Homeboy, Beercan, Pedro, and Greg.

Serving as pallbearers will be David Hicks, Cliff Dorsey, Mark Stevens, Chuck Kelly, Dade King, Stephen Rambin, Brad Ozan, and Jace Nunnelly. Honorary pallbearers are his grandsons, Noah King, Cameron King, Andin Gafoor, Blaze King, and Gage King.

James Milton Ray

James Milton Ray, age 77 of Deweyville, Texas, went to join his wife Kathy in Heaven on Wednesday, March 11, 2020 in Missouri. Services to honor James will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, March 21, 2020 at Dorman Funeral Home with Rev. John Fortenberry officiating. Interment with honors provided by the Southeast Texas Veterans Group will immediately follow at Wilkinson Cemetery. Family and friends will gather for a visitation from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM on Saturday, March 21, 2020.

James was born in Huntington Park, California on December 10, 1942 to Esther Mae Richardson Ray and Howard Milton Ray. He proudly served his country in the United States Army. James married the love of his life Kathy Irene Gifford on December 20, 1969 and the two were married for almost 50 years before Kathy passed away on October 28, 2019. He was retired from the oil field and had been a longtime truck driver.

James was an outdoors man, who enjoyed hunting, fishing and riding 4 wheelers. He had a deep love for his family and a sense of humor and whit that will be greatly missed. James had a wonderful laugh that was contagious and greatly appreciated by all that knew him. He loved the thrill of wheeling and dealing.
He is preceded in death by his wife Kathy Ray, parents Howard and Esther Ray, son David Eugene Ray and great granddaughter Maribelle Sims.

He is survived by his children; Jamie Stallwood, Anne Sims and spouse John Sims, James Ray and spouse Donna Ray, and Jeanne Ray and spouse Kara Ray. Two brothers, David Lynn Ray and John Charles Ray and a sister Melinda Jane Moore. His grandchildren Lacy Barnes and spouse Robert Barnes, Jonathan Sims and spouse Kenzie Sims, Katelyn Stallwood, D’Lisa Stamper, Justin Ray and spouse Madisyn Ray, Kegan Ray, Kali Moore and spouse Brent Moore, Kyla Alexander and spouse Josh Alexander, and Taylor Briscoe and spouse Dillon Briscoe. His great grandchildren; Kylie, Kamryn, Harrison, Levi, Johnie, Noah, Oakley, Rory, Brooks, Harper, Alexis, Dallas, Hayley, Garrett and Ripp.

Pallbearers to honor James will be Jonathan Sims, Justin Ray, Kegan Ray, Robert Barnes, Dustin Nolan and Mike Butts.

Betty Jean Mann

Betty Jean Mann, age 83 of Orange, Texas, passed away on Friday, March 13, 2020 in Beaumont, Texas. Services to honor Betty’s life will be held at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, March 17, 2020 at Dorman Funeral Home Chapel with Paul Masters officiating. Interment will immediately follow at Autumn Oaks Memorial Park. Family and friends will gather for a visitation one hour prior to the service at Dorman Funeral Home.

Betty was born on August 29, 1936 in Pineland, Texas to Hallie Peery Glawson and Clifford Glawson. She worked for many years as a seamstress in Orange County. She loved spending time with her family and going to the Country Music Shows. Betty had love for plants and loved to arrange beautiful flowers.

She is preceded in death by her husband of 53 years Robert Mann, parents Clifford and Hallie Glawson, grandson Jason Ray Bowsher, brothers, Ross Glawson and Lonnie Glawson and a sister Jerry Petry.

Survivors include her children; Billy Ray Bowsher of Mauriceville, TX, Robert Allan Mann of Orange, TX and Milinda Nation of Orangefield, TX, brothers, Ronnie Glawson of Kirbyville, TX and Jimmy Glawson of Beauomnt, sister Ann Lois Hughes of Branson, MO and great grandson Jason Ray Malley of Mississippi.

Emma “Jane” Arsenault

Emma “Jane” Arsenault, 67, of Orange, passed away on March 14, 2020, in Beaumont, Texas.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, March 17, 2020, at St. Mary Catholic Church in Orange. Officiating will be Father Joseph Daleo. Entombment will follow at St. Mary Cemetery in Orange.

Visitation will be held prior the service at 12:00 p.m. at the church.  

Jane was born in Orange, Texas, on July 7, 1952. She was the daughter of Charles Joseph Hebert and Celina May (LaBat) Hebert. She attended the University of Texas and also Texas A&M and remained an avid Texas A&M Aggie fan. Jane worked as an office manager for Dr’s Homer and Billie Stuntz. She loved her church and church family. She was involved in many things, including the St. Mary Alter Society, Director of St. Mary RICA, and Leader of St. Mary’s prayer group. Jane was a member of the last graduating class of St. Mary’s High School in 1970. She loved to travel, fish and snorkel. Jane loved her family and friends with all her heart and will be missed by all who knew and loved her.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Celina Hebert; loving husband, Thomas “Brad” Bradley Arsenault; brothers, Ronald J. Hebert and Charles “Butch” F. Hebert.

She is survived by her son, Aaron Bradley Arsenault and wife Tina Marie of Orange; grandchildren, Michael “BJ” Arsenault, Ayden J. Arsenault, Noah J. Sealy, and Elizabeth L. Sealy; grand god children, D.J. Williams, Bre’Asia Williams, and Zariah Williams; and sister, Carolyn Ann Smith of Orange.

Serving as pallbearers will be Paul Smith, John Byley, Charles “Bosco” Hebert, Ronald “Bubba” Hebert, Richard Blanchard, and Wayne Granger.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to St. Mary’s Catholic School.

Doris Annette Loeb Gans

Doris Annette Loeb Gans, age 74, was born September 25, 1945, in Beaumont, Texas to parents Everett N. Loeb and Dorothy Evans. She was raised in Port Arthur, Texas. She later married her friend and love, Franklin Delano Gans, Sr. with whom she shared nearly 52 years of marriage.

She graduated from Port Arthur Lincoln High School and received both a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree from Lamar University. Doris was the first African American female in Southeast Texas to hold a technical position at a chemical plant. She later found her passion in teaching advanced math where she shared her talents for more than 40 years. She was challenged to solve any math problem placed in front of her and was well-respected by both students and teachers alike. She retired from the West Orange-Stark School District but continued her services with the community as a tutor and in caregiving for the sick. She was happiest when she was able to serve others.

Known for her tasty links and “Loeb Chokers”, Doris loved to bake and was an excellent cook. Helping to operate and eventually own LOEB’S BAKERY, her family’s business in Port Arthur, was her pride and joy. She served with the Ladies Auxiliary at St. Therese Catholic Church and was a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc.

Doris was a dedicated mother first and foremost. She treasured her children and embraced every moment with them. She is the loving & devoted mother of Franklin Gans, Jr. (Alisa) of Missouri City, TX; Donovan Gans (Robin) of Beaumont, TX; Frannette Gans Woolridge of Houston, TX, and stepdaughter Laura Anderson of Terry, MS. She leaves her mother, Dorothy Evans, to cherish her memory as well as siblings— Everett Loeb (Naomi) of Indianapolis, IN; Greg Garlow of Austin, TX; Bernard Taylor, Terry Taylor, and Cedric Loeb (Sabrina) all of Houston, TX. She also leaves a brother and sisters-in-law Mary Knox, Johnella Davis, JoAnn Henson, Adam Gans, and Emma Augustine (Kenneth) all of Orange, TX. She especially loved her role as grandmother to 12 grandchildren.

She also leaves a devoted cousin, Janis Collins Allen (Ellis) of Port Arthur, TX, along with a host of other nieces, nephews, cousins, and close friends.

Doris had a unique personality and strong love for family. She always entertained people with her antics, stories and witty personality.

Doris peacefully passed away on March 9, 2020.

Family & friends are invited to attend visiting with the family any time to provide condolences in the Gans’ home at 1823 Longfellow Road in Orange.

The Celebration of Life for Mr. Sterling W. Moses, 70, of Orange will be Saturday, March 21, 2020 at 11am at the Starlight Church of God In Christ.

Rites of Christian Burial will follow in Magnolia Memorial Gardens under the direction of Sparrow Funeral Home.

Visitation will be from 9 until 11am.

Sterling Wilbert Moses was born December 8, 1949 to Beatrice Allen and Willie Moses, Sr. in Jasper, Texas.

His summons from earthly life came March 7, 2020 at Harbor Hospice in Beaumont, TX.

“Pro” as he was called served his country thru the United States Army and was Discharged With Honors.

Working years were spent at Levingston Shipyard in Orange.

He was preceded in death by his son Sterling Moses, Jr.

Forever cherishing his memory are his son, Travis Moses of Oakland, CA, 1 brother, Calvin Ray Moses of Orange, 2 sisters, Bedelia Lopez  and husband James  and Deatrice Platt and husband Calvin, both of Orange, 4 grandchildren, 1 great grandchild, his aunt, Lou Hewitt of Houston, TX, sister-in-law, Lillie Moses of Orange and his longtime, faithful friend, Rev. John Hinson of Orange.

L. Ray Holden

L. Ray Holden, age 60 of Deweyville, Texas, passed away on Sunday, March 15, 2020 in Deweyville. A graveside service to honor Ray’s life will be held at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, March 18, 2020 at Hudson Cemetery with Pastor Tony Wilcoxson officiating. Dorman Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Ray was born in Orange, Texas on May 3, 1959 to Mildred Frances Folks Holden and Jack Douglas Holden, Sr. Ray had an amazing talent of being able to do just about anything he put his mind to; whether it was being a mechanic or a brick layer. Ray enjoyed a life of fishing and boating on the Sabine River, but his favorite was white perch fishing. He could always be found in his yard piddling with some project that he had going on. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Jack and Mildred Holden, Sr., and his brother Rickie Dale Holden.

Those left to cherish his memory are his daughters, Misty Holden of Deweyville, TX and Brandie Rae McCoy of Deweyville, TX, brother Jack Douglas Holden, Jr. and his wife Jan of Irene, sisters Lynn Day and her husband Randy of Orange, TX and Kay Smith and her husband Jerry of Lewisville, AR, grandchildren; Kyle Holden, Kelsey Rae Janise, Bailey Childers, Aaron Hyatt, Brooke Childers, Brittney Childers, Breanna Childers and Emberleigh McCoy, great grandchild Hagan Lee Janise and one to arrive in September.

Henry L. Reese, Sr., 84, of Orange, Texas, passed away on March 16, 2020, at his home in Orange.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, March 18, 2020, at Claybar Funeral Home in Orange with Chaplain Greg Edwards officiating.

Visitation will be prior to the service beginning at 9:00 a.m.

Born in Gause, Texas, on June 27, 1935, he was the son of Clementine Reese and Frances (Luce) Cudworth. Henry proudly served his country in the United States Air Force and retired after 20 years of loyal service. He went on to spend many years as the Maintenance Director for Bridge City Independent School District. He enjoyed the outdoors, fishing, and travelling-especially to Utah and Arizona. Henry loved spending time with his family and will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Clementine and Frances Cudworth; loving wife, Edith Reese; brother, Jesse Ray Reese; and his sister, Mary Frances Walters.

Henry is survived by his children, Henry Reese, Jr. and wife Sue, of Monroe, UT, Debbie Lohr, of Olympia, WA, Linda Simon and husband Jim, of Bridge City, Susan Meaux and husband Terry, of Orange, and Ned Reese and wife Edith, of Orange; 12 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and his siblings, Charles “Butch” Reese and wife Dee and Helen Holmes and husband Earl.

Kathleen (Kathy) Ann Ceci Wilson

Kathleen (Kathy) Ann Ceci Wilson, of Joaquin, passed away Friday, March 13, 2020, in Garrison.

Funeral service will be held at noon, Wednesday, March 18, 2020, at Watson & Sons Funeral Home in Center with Roy Jackson “Dutch” Price III officiating.  Interment will follow at Oaklawn Memorial Park in Center. Visitation will be held prior to the service, beginning at 10:00 a.m.

Mrs. Wilson was born February 18, 1946, in Joliet, Illinois, to Henry E. Ceci and Lillian Dernulc Ceci.

She is survived by her husband, Jay Sr., whom she met on a blind date in 1966 and had a long distance courtship while both attended colleges 1000 miles apart.  The two married February 15, 1969 and they just celebrated their 51st anniversary.

A graduate of the University of Wisconsin with a BS in Physical Medicine, she was a registered physical therapist for over 40 years.  She especially enjoyed working with pediatric and geriatric patients.  She entered the profession not for the money, but for the satisfaction of helping her patients.  Her gift to her patients, in addition to physical therapy, was her compassion.  She believed that talking and listening to her patients and their families was an equally important part of their therapy.

She is survived by her children, Jay M. Wilson Jr. and his wife Lisa, Melissa Price and her husband Timmy; grandchildren, Kelli Coleman, Ceci Beaumont and her husband Hunter, Jesse Wilson, Melayni Wilson, and Brady Price; great grandchildren, Jaxton Beaumont and Evelynn Beaumont.

Her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren were her life.  She made it a point to be at every activity of theirs, regardless of the distance she had to travel.  She was an animal lover…never meeting one she didn’t want to adopt.

Pallbearers will be Jesse Wilson, Brady Price, Hunter Beaumont, Jaxton Beaumont, John Paul Sledge, Glenn Ebby, and Robert Nugent.

Molley Abshier

Molley Abshier, 64, of Orange, Texas, passed away on March 16, 2020, in Port Arthur, Texas. 

Born in Port Arthur, Texas, on February 28, 1956, she was the daughter of John Dixon and Agnes (Hoffpauir) Dixon. Molley was an excellent seamstress who loved to sew, embroider, and was locally famous for her handmade Christmas stockings. She enjoyed cooking new things for her friends and family, but her spaghetti could always guarantee that everyone would be at her table to enjoy it. Molley was a loving wife, mother, sister, and friend- but most of all the best “Grammy” to her grandchildren. She loved her family dearly and they will always treasure the memories they have of her.

She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Agnes Dixon.

Molley is survived by her high school sweetheart, her loving husband of 45 years, Larry Abshier; children, Ginny Davis and husband Jimbo, of Little Cypress, Cody Abshier and Heather Hall, of Burkeville, and Casey Abshier and wife Heather, of Bridge City; grandchildren, Kyndall Davis, Rhys Davis, Kowlen Killingsworth, and Paxton Abshier, and her siblings, John Dixon, Jr. and wife Pam and Jane Lampman and husband Ed; along with numerous other loving family and friends.

Mrs. Abshier’s family would like to extend a special thank you to Sandy and Lynn for their continued friendship through the years.

Charlene Reyna Morgan, 59, of Orange, passed away on March 13, 2020, in Orange.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, March 18, 2020, at United Pentecostal Church in Bridge City, Texas. Officiating will be Dr./Reverend J.W. Harrell and Reverend Murry Ray. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Orange.

Visitation will be prior to the service beginning at 10:00 a.m., at the church.

Born in Port Arthur, Texas, on November 15, 1960, she was the daughter of Charles Ray Mitchell and Patricia Ann (Porteau) Mitchell. Charlene loved the lord with all her heart and was the light of everyone’s life. She was a beautiful woman who was one in a million. Charlene loved to have fun, laugh, and was always smiling. She enjoyed cooking and baking for her family. Charlene was a true hero, who was very generous and giving in all things. She was everyone’s best friend and was a light in the darkness. Charlene loved her family more than anything, especially her grandchildren. Everything Charlene did was for her loving husband and family. She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Patricia Mitchell.

She is survived by her loving husband of 40 years, Scott Morgan; children, Kristin Manuel and husband Joey of Vidor, Kevin Morgan and wife Ashley of Bridge City, and Jared Morgan and wife Christine of New Caney; grandchildren, Ayden Manuel, Ashton Manuel, Franco Yates Morgan; siblings, Cynthia Rashall and husband Roger of Nederland, Charles “Bubba” Ray V Mitchell and wife Jo of Deer Park.

Serving as pallbearers will be Lou Randall Locke II, Rocky Rashall, Blake Rashall, James Pitman, Seth Corkran, Josh Campbell, Brandon Bell, and Ayden Manuel.

Roy Glenn Malone

Roy Glenn Malone,83, of Orange, passed away on March 16, 2020, at Magnolia Assisted Living Center in Gonzales, Louisiana.

Born in Orange, Texas, on January 22, 1937, he was the son of Hugh Preston Malone and Ella (Peet) Malone. Roy graduated from Little Cypress High School in 1955. He proudly served his country in the United States Army and was stationed in Germany from 1960 to 1962. Roy worked at DuPont SRW for various contactors through the 1960s and 1970s. He retired to his ranch in Orange in the 1980s and spent his days with cattle, his special grandchildren, family, and friends. Roy loved his family dearly and will be missed by all who knew and adored him.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Hugh and Ella Malone; loving wife, Brenda (Bruce) Malone; and siblings, Lois Ezell, Preston Malone, and Vernon Malone.

He is survived by his children, Missy (Malone) Cognevich and husband Jeffrey of Prairieville, Louisiana and Troy Malone of Orange; grandchildren, Garrett Cognevich and wife Erin, Caleb Cognevich and girlfriend Taylor Rossi; great grandchildren, Ivey Kate Cognevich and Addy Kling; sister, Emily (Malone) Duncan and husband Bobby; and sister-in-law’s, Cynthia Hill Malone Tuter, Mary Francis Malone, and Bonita Bruce Mathews Ratliff.

David Lee Smith

David Lee Smith, 72, of Mauriceville, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family in love and prayers on March 18, 2020, at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Beaumont.

Born in Port Acres, Texas, on July 28, 1947, he was the son of Alvis “Dutch” Norman Smith and Bessie Ivy (Minter) Smith. David proudly served his country in the United States Air Force Special Ops from 1965 to 1971. He flew many missions into areas of Cambodia and Laos during the Vietnam War. After his military service, he returned to Southeast Texas where he held a wide variety of jobs. Through the years he worked as a police officer in Port Arthur, a Major for Orange County Sheriff’s Department, Newton County Chief of Police, and in the construction industry, both operating heavy equipment and supervising. David enjoyed creating beautiful things with his hands in carpentry and leather working. He also loved animals of all kinds and adopted or found homes for many stray dogs. Those that knew him best describe him as gentle, kind, humorous, and extremely passionate about the things that mattered the most to him. David loved his family dearly and will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Alvis and Bessie Smith; siblings, Melvin Smith, Tommy Smith, Norman Smith, and Evelyn Mathers.

He is survived by his loving wife of 36 years, Carolyn Smith; children, Shawna Jackson and husband Chris of San Diego, California and Tiffany Sterling and husband Jonathan of Mauriceville; grandchildren, Adalynne Dawn Jackson and Lorelei Davey Jackson.

Serving as pallbearers will be Richard “Buggar” Minter, Clint Mann, Dan Cowart, Kenny Smith, Ritchie Smith, and William Patten. Honorary pallbearers will be Tony Noah and Fred Bagwell.

David’s family would like to extend a special thanks to all the doctors, nurses, and staff on the 4t h floor South East at St. Elizabeth hospital and Texas Oncology for their extraordinary care and support.

The Celebration of Life for Ms. Lucinda Allen, 84, of Orange, will be Saturday at 11am at the Mount Calvary Missionary Baptist Church.

Rites of Christian Burial will follow in Magnolia Memorial Gardens under the direction of Sparrow Funeral Home.

Visitation will be from 9 until 11 am.

Lucinda Arabella Allen was born January 7, 1936 in San Augustine, TX to Mr. Willie Sr. and Mrs. Ideria Nash Allen.

In 1945 the family moved to Orange, TX. A 1958 graduate of Emma H. Wallace High School, she later attended Chenier Business College in Beaumont, TX.

During her working years she was employed as a Certified Nursing Assistant at the former Orange Memorial Hospital and layer moving to Houston, TX she was employed in the Dry-Cleaning business.

In 1971 she returned to Orange to take care of mom and dad. She did a very good job until their passing.

She then became the nurse of the family and being the oldest, she became momma to all the family. Everyone looked up to her, she was a good sister, auntie, and “good servant of the Lord”.

On Tuesday, March 10, 2020 God in His infinite wisdom and never-failing compassion, called Cindy home. She entered eternal “rest”.

She was preceded in death by her parents, 5 brothers, Willie G., Sherman, Clinton and Clyde (fraternal twins) and Thearon Allen and her sister, Lee F. Abrams.

She leaves to cherish  her loving memories 3 sisters,  Gloria J. Carter and Margie M. Degay and husband James, both of Orange, and Verlie Williams and husband Donald of Houston, TX, 1 brother, Walter Glenn Allen and wife Tiffany of Houston, TX, her  Godchildren, Darrell Carter, Vonti Allen, Xavier Degay, Jason Degay, and Jermaine Degay and a host of other nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She loved her family and took good care of all of them as best she could. She was just like momma to the family.

Inez Robichaux Fournet

Inez Robichaux Fournet, 95, of Mauriceville, Texas, passed away Thursday, March 19, 2020, after 71 years of Marriage to Maurice Fournet.

Inez was born in St. Martinville, Louisiana on August 2, 1924 to Noe James Robichaux and Elmire Lasseigne Robichaux. She was a wonderful wife, mother, and grandmother, who enjoyed caring for people and giving of herself. She enjoyed country music and we visited Branson, Missouri, yearly to enjoy their shows.

Prior to marriage, Inez worked as a secretary, most notably at the Pentagon in Washington D.C. During World War II, and then with Veteran Affairs Office in St. Martinville, LA. Until she became a full time Homemaker.

She is preceded in death by her parents, sisters Burna Bernard, and Lola Marin, and Brother James Robichaux.

Those left to cherish her memories are husband Maurice Fournet, Son Keith Fournet and wife Vickie, daughter Denise Prejean and husband Greg, and grandchildren Tiffany Carter, Rachel Radebaugh, Zachary Fournet, Kelsey Prejean, and Blaine Prejean, and six great grandchildren. She will leave a tremendous void in all their hearts.

Her funeral will be handled by Claybar Funeral Home in Orange, Texas. Due to the current regulations, the funeral services with religious rites will be privately conducted at the grave site located at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Orange, Texas.

Gloria Mae Fruge Wade, 91, passed away peacefully on, March 18, 2020, in Harbor Hospice Harbor House of Beaumont, Texas.

Gloria was born in Arnaudville, LA to Edward Fruge and Zula Guilbeau Alleman.

She was preceded in death by her husband Gareld (Jerry) Delbert Wade, former son-in-law Jimmy Fetters, sister Sylvia Moran, niece Debra Leger’ Dean, and brothers in law, Glen Moran, Larry Leger, Jim Ravencraft and Al LeBlanc.

She is survived by her two daughters, Carol Susan Wade Morgan and Cindy Wade Idom, and son in laws James Ronnie Idom and Harold Morgan.  She is also survived by 2 sisters, Louella Theresa Ravencraft and Mildred Marie Leger Leblanc, 4 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren in addition to a niece, Sherry Lester (Tommy) and nephews Larry Dane Leger'(Lucy) and Lonnie Dale Leger and their children.

Gloria was proud of and dearly loved her Grandchildren and Great Grandchildren Troy Wade Idom, Monroe, LA, Melanie Leigh Idom Wascom (Howard) Baton Rouge, LA, Tyler William Idom (Amy) West Monroe, LA, and Rachael Elizabeth Idom Tumminello (Michael) Baton Rouge, LA.

Great Grandchildren: Hunter Cade Wascom, Cade Joseph Burton, Troy Wade Idom II, Destiny Idom, Macy Leigh Wascom, Tristan Wesley Idom, Reis Charles Wascom, Phalyn Alexandra Welch (Idom), Sofia Mae Tumminello, Lillian Rose Idom, Thaxton Michael and Vincent James Tumminello (twins), and Luca Dominic Tumminello.

Gloria was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Orange, Texas.  Before retirement, Gloria worked as a case worker and supervisor with the Texas Dept. of Health and Human Services for 27 years. She and her husband Jerry enjoyed socializing with a square-dancing group that gathered most every weekend where Jerry was often the caller during the dances. She also enjoyed sewing and creating jewelry. They spent many enjoyable weekends at Toledo Bend Lake with their dear friends, Earl and Barbara Kelley.

Gloria was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary and was always patriotic. She loved the outdoors, enjoyed working in her yard and visiting with her friends and neighbors!

Special thanks goes to Montebello Home Care and Harbor Hospice of Beaumont for her loving care and assistance during the past few years. Also, special heartfelt thanks goes to Lennie Benoit, her special friend.

A private family service with burial to follow at Autumn Oaks Cemetery will be under the direction of Claybar Funeral Home in Orange. She will rest eternally adjacent to her husband Gareld (Jerry).

Pallbearers: Larry Leger, Lonnie Leger, Tommy Lester, Rusty McDonald, Troy Idom, and Tyler Idom.

Officiant: Rev. Sinclair K. Oubre, St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, Orange, TX.

Charles Dean Granger

Dean Granger, 60, of Orange, passed away on March 21, 2020, at home surrounded by his loving family.

Dean was born in Orange, Texas, on September 29, 1959 to Wendell Granger and Carol (Pachar) Granger. Dean has always loved cars, whether he was watching NASCAR or IMSA, or racing corvettes. He has been in the car business since 1980 but in 2008 he partnered with his brother, Al, starting Granger Chevrolet. Dean also co-owned Granger RV. He was a member of First Baptist Church and was very involved in the community, supporting numerous local organizations and charities. Dean was on the Orange Area Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors and also helped create the Shop Local initiative. He was also on the committee for First State Bank and served many years on the City of Orange EDC Board of Directors, where he served officer positions of Vice-President and Treasurer. From 2010 to 2016, Dean served on the board of the United Way of Orange County, serving as Campaign Chair, 2nd Vice Chair, 1stVice Chair, and Board Chair. In his spare time, Dean enjoyed spending time flying with his friends, but most of all he loved going to the beach with his family. He was a wonderful husband, father, and grandfather, and will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. 

He was preceded in death by his father, Wendell Granger.  

He is survived by his loving wife of 22 years, Kim Granger; mother, Carol Granger of Orange; son, Shelby Granger of Carrollton, Texas; granddaughter, Fioriana “Fia” Granger of Carrollton, Texas; brother, Al Granger of Orange; and many cousins and other loving family. 

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to United Way of Orange Co. at 1506 W Park Ave, Orange, Texas 77630 or SETX Hospice at 912 W Cherry Ave, Orange, Texas 77630.

There will be a private graveside service Tuesday, at Nibletts Bluff, but the family will hold a Celebration of Life at a later date.

William Whitney “Bill” Mello

William Whitney Mello, known as Bill or Mister Bill throughout Orange, 66, lifetime resident of Orange, who succumbed to one of the most aggressive, deadly forms of brain cancer, glioblastoma multiform died March 20, 2020, at home surrounded by his loving family.  

Despite Bill’s prognosis, his stubbornness allowed him to fight GBM for 14 months.  Bill’s love for life and his will to live is why he survived as long as he did.  Born in Orange, Texas, on January 12, 1954, he was the son of, Mariano Francisco (Frank) Mello and Zona (Woods) Mello.  

He was a ‘72 graduate of Little Cypress High School. At age 21, he became a master plumber and opened Mello Plumbing.  Bill was an active member of Little Cypress Baptist Church for 50 years.  He served 10 years on the Orange City Council where he was passionate about promoting growth in Orange.  He was a member of Orange Rotary Club for many years.   He served on the Board of Directors at First State Bank of Orange. 

He was an avid sportsman, who loved fishing and hunting, and was active in Ducks Unlimited and had a passion for conservation.  He was a businessman, loving husband and father, grandfather, uncle and a friend to many.  His involvement in the community was a testament of his love for others and Orange.  He helped those in need with love, respect and compassion regardless of their situations.

Matthew 5:16 Jesus said, “in the same way, let your life so shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in Heaven”.

Bill is proceeded in death by both parents. A private service will be held Wednesday, March 25, 2020, and the family will hold a Celebration of Life at a later date. 

Bill is survived by his loving wife, Glenda Mello; daughter, Whitney Mello Coleman and husband Benny of Orange; grandchildren, Haley, Lexie, and Ethan Coleman; siblings, Vivian D’Angelo Camara of Swansea, Massachusetts, Carolyn Mello of Orange, and Marian Mello of Austin. 

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Little Cypress Baptist Church building fund, 3274 Little Cypress Drive, Orange, TX  77632. 

Serving as pallbearers will be long-time friends, Carrol Teal, Jim Harris, Tommy Martin, and employees of Mello Plumbing Arthur Manning, Nathan Moody, and Aaron Kay.  Honorary pallbearer: Terryl Peveto of Arkansas.

Ernest “Pat” Cecil McGuire Fountain

Ernest “Pat” Cecil McGuire Fountain, age 80, of Orange, Texas, passed away Monday, March 23, 2020. A private service to honor the life and legacy of Pat will be held at Fountain Cemetery in Starks, Louisiana.   

Pat was born on Friday, November 17, 1939, in San Antonio, Texas to parents, Freddie (Bussell) Fountain and Ernest C. Fountain. Pat was a lifelong resident of Orange, Texas after moving from Starks, Louisiana over 55 years ago. He loved spending quality time with his family, every chance that life allowed. When his sons, David, Jody, Brett and Brady were all playing sports as kids and teenagers, their dad attended every single game and almost every single practice as well. He was a very involved father in all aspects of his children’s lives, which in turn taught his sons to grow up and be the same wonderful men and fathers that he was. His boys were the light of his life, until the grandchildren and great grandchildren came along and he found out what unconditional love truly was. Throughout his lifetime, Pat continued to attend almost all of the LCM BEARS football and baseball games, as he thoroughly enjoyed just being there and watching the sport, even if he didn’t know a single soul that was on the field. He also enjoyed watching the horse races and loved to go fishing.

Pat was a loving husband, father, son, brother, grandfather, great grandfather and friend, who will forever be loved and missed by all who knew him.   

Pat is survived by his loving children, David Bailey and wife Rustie, Jody Bailey and wife Susan, Brett Fountain and wife Elise, as well as Brady Fountain and wife Shavonn; sister, Faye Fountain Sanders; grandchildren, Caleb Fountain, Dillon Bailey, Damon Bailey, Hunter Fountain, Blayne Addison, Bode Fountain, Camden Fountain, Michael Gonzales, Tasha Gonzales, Jack Burke, Kolbiann Fountain and Danielle Perales; great-grandchildren, Cutler Fountain, Collier Fountain, Hadley Bailey, Harper Bailey, Wyatt Walden, Allie Addison, Ava Addison, Kasen Addison and Brantley Shaw.

Pat is preceded in death by his loving wife of 41 years, Mary Ann Fountain; parents, Freddie and Ernest C. Fountain, as well as, brother, Robert Mike Fountain.
